Quotes by Arsene Wenger

As a coach I can teach the players what they do wrong without knowing it is wrong.

I lived for two years in Japan and it was the best diet I ever had. The whole way of life there is linked to health. Their diet is basically boiled vegetables, fish and rice. No fat, no sugar. You notice when you live there that there are no fat people. I think in England you eat too much sugar and meat and not enough vegetables.

I think training of better Youth Coaches is essential

If you do not believe you can do it then you have no chance at all.

Young players need freedom of expression to develop as creative players... they should be encouraged to try skills without fear of failure.

I spent long years alongside him so obviously I learned a lot from him but also from different people, different clubs, different countries and different continents. I've got bits and pieces of everyone.

I enjoy it when we play good football, but that means running quickly, jumping high and, of course, putting your foot in. I do not like players who do not get involved in the fight, I concede that, but I never tell anybody to kick an opponent. Never.

If you think about it, the culture of a country is dictated by what they learn in school. We in France have Descartes. His rationalism is the basis for all French thought and culture. In Italy you have Machiavelli, who is also about being rational and calculating. Here in England, maybe because they are an island, they are more war-like, more passionate. They view football as an old style duel, a fight to the death, come what may. When an Englishman goes into war that's it, he either comes back triumphant or he comes back dead.
